Japanese Music – Nihon Madonna
Recently I hear many people talking about "Nihon Madonna (日本マドンナ)". It´s a Japanese girls´ band, they are all in their teens. They are becoming so popular now in Japan.
The song are mostly very simple and direct in a way. It´s punk…. I suppose. Am I right?
This song is called "Seiri (生理)" means period… you know the ones women have once a month and some of your girlfriend may get really in a bad mood during this time. So they shout. This is in their second mini album "Gekkeimae Shoukougun (月経前症候群) – PMS-".
They´ll be playing at the Rock Festival in the end of the year, COUNTDOWN JAPAN 10/11. More detail is from HERE.
Another one, "Inaka ni Kurashitai (田舎に暮らしたい / I want to live in the countryside)". They sing about how the city makes them crazy and want to leave everything behind and live in inaka. But finally they decide to stick to the city and deal with all problems.
Nihon Madonna was formed in March, 2009 by 3 high school girls, Anna (あんな), Marina (まりな) and Satoko (さとこ). In the same year, they won the music magazine, Rockin´ On´s amateur artist contest, "RO69 Jack 09/10" and played at COUNTDOWN JAPAN 09/10. Soon they attracted many fans. On the 7th of July 2010, Nihon Madonna released their first mini album, "Sotsugyou Seisaku (卒業制作 / Graduation Project)".

It seems like Japanese Ojisans are confused by these young girls powerful, angry and dirty lyrics. But then they realise that after the concert, they are just the girls you see daily in the train who are so excited about being taken photos.
Another Japanese girls band, I kind of like them.
